Some performance training activities like this one example shown here require video demonstration. Though more expensive to set up than
other formats, it can deliver a more effective, informative, and memorable, experience to learners.
Pipeline for 3-Point Green Screen Lighting
When setting three-point lighting, make sure you have enough roof height so that you can angle your lights between 30 – 45 degrees downwards.
The key and fill lights should be around 7 – 10 feet from the actor, screen lights about 5 feet from the screen, and backlights 5 feet from the subject.
Adjust positions to get that perfect balance.
Key Light:
Key light adds shadow and definition to the actor.
It needs to be a harder source, such as a
radiant soft spot or fresnel lens luminaire.
Fill Light:
The fill light raises the general lighting level on the subject,
reducing the depth of shadows while softening
the appearance of facial features.
Back Light:
Back or rim light separates the subject from the
background and adds some level of depth
while highlighting your actor’s form.
